This update resolves one public vulnerability and two privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft DirectShow. The vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted QuickTime media file. An attacker who manages to exploit one of its vulnerabilities can enjoy the same legal protections as a local user. Users whose accounts are configured to have significantly fewer user rights on the system can potentially be less vulnerable users than users who typically run with administrator rights.

Do I need DirectX 9.0 C if I have DirectX 12?
DirectX 12 is by far the latest version of DirectX and as such is partly related to Windows 10. However, like all previous versions of DirectX, DirectX 15 supports DirectX 11, 10 and 9. These are games designed specifically for DirectX 9, 10 or 11. will definitely work.
A security update foraddresses vulnerabilities by correcting the way DirectShow parses QuickTime media files, in conjunction with validated value pointers and size fields in QuickTime media intervals. Recommendation. Most customers have automatic updates enabled and therefore do not need to take any action as this security update will most likely be downloaded and installed automatically.
